We create digital portfolios to catalogue and maintain a permanent record of your entire production.

Images are scanned at high resolution and stored on one or more CD-Roms for permanent record. Where needed, visual materials can be adjusted and corrected to cancel the effects of time and handling and to obtain a consistent image quality for your entire body of work. Information associated with each work is inserted according to your needs and specifications.

A customized digital record of your work will allow you to:

  • Associate images and information to help you track the location, value, collectors and galleries, exhibitions, trades, loans, museum collections, etc.
  • Keep a record of where each work is located or stored. Have up-to-date records for insurance purposes.
  • Track exhibitions, including images and lists of work, catalogue texts and media coverage.
  • Print single information sheets, booklets, partial or complete catalogues, which will be custom-designed for your needs.
  • Duplicate and distribute disks with images and information to art dealers, collectors, museums, potential clients.
  • High-resolution digital images are ready for use on publications, catalogues, web pages or other digital media.

Our team of specialists can contribute their experience of portfolio and image management, gallery management, publishing, exhibition setup, to create an effective and easy-to-use record of your work allowing you to make the leap into digital media.

CASE STUDY
The objective was to give a established and prolific artist a powerful tool to organize all the information about his life's work. A historical tool, functioning much like a "catalogue raisonné", and a practical tool to help him interact with collectors, galleries and museums.

The 1300+ works were scanned at high resolution. Some images were reviewed with the artist and optimized electronically to remove the effects of aging and handling of the originals (some slides were dated 1953). Scans were reduced for the various applications while a set of masters was burned onto CD disks for storage, print publication and future reference.

To respond to the multiple needs of the project ImageLeap provided three parallel solutions, all feeding on the same knowledge base:

  • A digital catalogue on CD-Rom which is self-running and functions equally on PC and Mac computers, to be distributed to collectors, galleries and institutions. This disk contains over 1300 images.
  • A multi-faceted knowledge system containing information as practical as collector's addresses and purchases, gallery exhibitions and works shown, and as abstract as theme, inspiration and compositional structure. This end of the project is obviously proprietary, resides on the artist's studio computer and is password protected. The artist can now review his production with parameters matching his current interests, keep an updated inventory of works, simplify and streamline his contact with collectors, galleries and museums.
  • A printing system that produces materials comparable to the best photographic prints. From his photo-quality printer the artist can produce: full catalogues with large images and titles; inventory lists with small pictures; exhibition summaries including works shown, guest lists and press coverage; single page printouts on specific artworks; certificates of authenticity when works are sold.

As older paintings are re-surfacing and new ones are being produced, the catalogue is updated and enriched with little effort and expense, and new editions of the CD-Rom disks can be produced as needed. A website featuring recent works has also been set up quickly and effectively from the materials produced in this project. To view Gian Berto Vanni's website, CLICK HERE.
